DROWNING POOL @ DREAMLAND, MARGATE: A NIGHT OF PURE ENERGY AND CONNECTION

Updated: Dec 2

Drowning Pool — the iconic American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in 1996 — delivered an unforgettable show at Dreamland, Margate. Their classic sound filled the room from the very first note, and despite a couple of members feeling under the weather, the band powered through with incredible energy and professionalism. The crowd matched that energy right back; no matter the age, everyone in the room felt united by the music.

Their stage presence was effortless and commanding. Each member brought a fierce intensity to the stage, locking in with one another while still making every fan in the room feel seen. Frontman Ryan McCombs connected with fans on a level most artists only aspire to, even jumping into the crowd to create an intimate, electric moment that brought everyone closer together.

One of the most powerful points of the night came when the band slowed everything down. The stage lights faded until the room was plunged into pitch black, tension building as everyone held their breath. The atmosphere was intense — a quiet, shared anticipation just before the storm. And then, as the opening riff of their most iconic track hit, the room exploded. Bodies kicked off in full force, sending the entire venue into a frenzy and reminding everyone exactly why this song remains a cornerstone of rock.

I was incredibly lucky to spend some time with the band after the show, and they were genuinely some of the loveliest people I’ve met. It was an honour to get to know them beyond the stage and gain insight into their fascinating lives.

Overall, Drowning Pool brought passion, nostalgia, and a true sense of community to Margate — a night that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
